HISTORY

The first extensions consisting of natural hair appeared in Ancient Egypt.

The first skeleton of a woman wearing a hairstyle made using natural hair extensions was unearthed in the cemetery of an ancient city known as Amarna.

In ancient times, the use of wigs and hair extensions were common in the upper class. For women, beautiful hair was not only an essential asset of seduction but also a sign of social belonging. Once in Egypt the people from the lower classes wore wigs made from plant fibers or wool.

In the fifteenth century in Africa, hair is an enhancement of a woman's status and other social characteristics. During slavery, hair becomes a source of labor. Thus the women working in the fields cover their hair with a scarf and the women in the interior are subjected to a uniform which includes a wig identical to that of the hostess (who also wears one).

In 1991, in London, David Gold wondered how he could recycle unused bleached hair. He got the totally crazy idea of making hair extensions! He patented his technology under the Great Lengths brand and set himself the goal of marketing an easy-to-style hair extension system providing an ideal and easy solution to thicken fine hair.

He is the first to offer Keratin hair extensions.

Until then, no other non-compromising technique of attaching additional strands of hair to the client's own natural hair has existed. This invention will prove to be a hair revolution.

From ancient Egypt until today, techniques and products have evolved but the goal is still the same: Improve appearance.
